Interview with Brydie Mack

For the people that don't know this talented photographer, creative director, stylist and actress...let us introduce you to Brydie Mack (Wolfcub). Brydie is a camera hoarder, currently owning 11 of them, but her star children are the Mamiya RZ67, Nikon F4 & Pentax Spotmatic. Her key to success: Never compromise your aesthetic for someone else's convenience, be fair, but be a tough bitch.

Below her amazing shoot starring Alexandra Spencer (4thandbleeker)...

Photos are from the latest shoot with Alexandra Spencer (4th and Bleeker). Lack Of Color by Brydie Mack.

What do you do in your daily life?
Try to clear space on my iPhone so I can take more photos.
You are a creative director, photographer, stylist and owner of Wolfcub? Could you tell me what this all means? And how did it all get started?
I moved from Adelaide to Sydney in 2012, to pursue my acting & study a Design Degree.
Acting quickly took a back seat, as I accidentally fell into photography & just ran with it.
3 years later, still running. Arms flailing, but running, nonetheless.
What do you look for when searching for your next project?

For me, it all starts with the model. If we have a really cool, natural, effortless beauty on board, whom I have thoroughly Insta-stalked, I have no trouble visualising the concept. If the model isn't to my taste, I really struggle.

Which camera's do you use, and do you prefer digital or film & why?
Bit of a camera hoarder, I'm afraid. I have a family of 11, but my star children right now are the Mamiya RZ67, Nikon F4 & Pentax Spotmatic. Film, obvi.
What inspires you?
Nature. Big time.
Ma & Pa were/are tree-hugging hippies, they raised my sister & I to be conscious of the fact that all things are most beautiful with as little human interference as possible.
If you could photograph anyone from the history, who would it be?
Daria. Shocker.
What was your ultimate happiness 10 years ago and today?
I was 13 & utterly obsessed with Jessie McCartney. I like to think my taste in men has somewhat refined since then.
Today my ultimate happiness is alone-time.
The moments you are lying in your bed.. which thoughts come up to you?
Go to sleep you brat.

What's your perception of yourself?
Oh god. I guess it depends on my surroundings.
The secret is to stay away from ass holes & spend time with people who give you the space to be yourself.
Egomaniacs are a deal-breaker.
Does fame impress you?
Fame is an illusion.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Can a man love two women at the same time?
I'm not for a second going to pretend I know what goes on in the male mind.
But if they get to, we get to.
What's your perception about real love?
It's the closest thing we have to magic (Aquamarine reference).

What's your future dream?
Get ouut! I can't tell you that without sounding hopelessly optimistic.
But it has nothing to do with photography.
If you could give any business advice... What would it be:
Never compromise your aesthetic for someone else's convenience.
Be fair, but be a tough bitch.
Name 5 things you can't live without:
Mum, humor, open windows, intuition, avocados
